Restylane is a form of injectable filler that lasts usually 6-9 months, depending on the area injected. It is made of a substance called “hyaluronic acid,” which is a normal component of all living organisms, and occurs naturally throughout the human body.
Restylane bonds with the body’s own moisture to smooth the skin and replenish volume. Hyaluronic acid is a protein found in the joints and tissues of all living things. Restylane is soft, holds its shape, and does not form lumps. It helps reduce the lines and folds that develop around the mouth, eyes, nose and forehead. By returning lost volume to tissues beneath the skin, Restylane can also strengthen the chin, sharpen the cheeks or, as some patients have discovered, provide lip enhancement.Because it is not animal based, there is no allergy testing required prior to treatment. Restylane injections cause no significant pain, swelling, or recovery time. Treatments typically take about 30 minutes. Small amounts of Restylane are injected into precise locations, and in most cases you will be asked to give feedback so that you have control over your final look.
The result is a soft, pliable filled area, which looks natural.
Restylane results in a bit of swelling in the treated area for a few days, but within a week, the beneficial results of increased natural fullness can be enjoyed. A maintenance procedure can retain your more youthful looking results.
